“Anti-Makeup” for Little Girls

When it comes to makeup, little girls can become obsessed with the idea that one day they’ll get to wear all of the pretty colors that their mom does. Sometimes this leads to the infamous lipstick swiping that almost every little girl (and even a few little guys) are known for. It’s almost as bad as the walking in mommy’s heels. However, there are a few ways to combat this without losing tube after tube of lipstick.

1. Scented and colored lip balm. It doesn’t have to do anything or leave any color on her lips to make her feel just like mommy. It’s reminiscent of wearing lipstick, with the added benefit of moisturizing her lips. Make sure that if any irritation occurs that you quickly dispose of that kind and find an alternative. If it comes down to it, you can put a tiny bit of Vaseline on her lips and let her use that instead. A tiny dab on her eyelids can also make them look shiny—kind of like

2. If watching you put on foundation is what fascinates her most, choose a lotion safe for facial application. Let her use a few little dots on her face. Coco butter is a good choice and usually isn’t an irritant. Not to mention that it smells really good as well. Make sure to explain to her not to use it on or near her eyes. Also make sure that she really isn’t using more than a few dots. If she wants blush, you can have a pink tinted lotion that won’t leave behind any color and use that on her cheeks.

3. Tell her how pretty she looks. She may not actually be wearing anything that will show up on her skin, but the point is that she needs to know she looks pretty just as she is. This “anti-makeup” makes her feel done up just like her mom without all of the color and still allowing every single bit of her natural beauty shine through.
